Is the question of identity important in the Aquarius era?

As any other astrological sign, the Aquarius has its opposite sign as well - the Lion. This opposite sign is going to carry the Shadow, if we use Jung’s terminology, that is the dark side, the opposite side in the Aquarius era. It means that the main characteristics of the Lion (creative individuality, intuition and a sense of inner values) have to be integrated with the energy of the ruling sign, Aquarius whose characteristics are impersonality and the orientation toward the collective conscious.
The Aquarius is logical and intransient, while the Lion is mythical and intuitive. From this we can conclude that in the Aquarius era it is necessarily to make a balance between collective needs and aspirations and individuals’ desires to reach self-affirmation. To put it bluntly, in the age of big organizations and big global things it is important to remember that small things, spontaneity and happiness are also important or that the whole is as important as its particular parts.
You may have noticed that different contemporary religious or philosophical movements often use the word self-realization when they offer courses and lectures. In astropsychology the Sun is connected to the notions individuality, self-expression and self-realization. The Sun represents an individual’s desire to become oneself and, of course, rules over the aforementioned Lion sign. In the present time such movements, which help people work on their self-realization, are expected in the societies that are too much oriented towards collective need and masses. Liz Green writes about that in her book The Astrological Sun (CPA Press, 2001) claiming that in contemporary time human individuality is not so much emphasized because we qualify the world we live in as global.
Certainly, there are many other reasons why the question of identity in our time is so important but we will discuss it somewhere else or some other time.
