Eastern traditions can teach us how to establish contact with our bodies

This is a big truth. The traditional concept of the spirit (not only in Christian tradition) as something higher and more valuable than the body or the matter has alienated European tradition from its own body and it has often been forbidden to establish a contact between the mind and the body. In our societies people discover, to a great surprise, that our body is surrounded by the energy sphere (proved by the Kirilian photography), or perhaps, that good mood has curative effects. Both of these things are completely common to Chinese medicine or yoga techniques.
Furthermore, under the influence of yoga, Qi gong and similar disciplines or exercises we can learn more about conscious breathing and how to use our breath to heal our body and our mind.  We are more familiar with the idea that the body has seven energy centres that are connected to endocrine glands which maintain life and hormonal functions. We also gain knowledge from Chinese medicine about meridians, body channels through which life energy (qi) is believed to flow and control all psychophysical functions.
